5 LOOKBOOK looks - deux

The second set of my 5 favorite LOOKBOOK looks of week!

This is the #1 outfit of the week! I love the bohemian feel of natural long wavy hair. It really can make any outfit have that perfect effortless look. My biggest thing I've been trying lately is to have just one accessory or clothing piece with a pop of color against natural tones. Something about it just makes a cute outfit have a bit of an artsy & fun look! Also can't forget to mention how adorable those heal boots are.

Noticing a pattern? Once again that little pop of color with the feather earrings adds a nice little pop to the entire outfit. & I still can't get enough of these big round sunglasses! It's like the classic 60's round shades gone modern day, possibly a little mod, who knows?! A little lace here & there can really add nice textures within an outfit. I can't say enough how fun it is to play with different fabrics & layering, & this lace shawl is adorable.

I really just fell in love with the skeleton key ring. Antique looking jewelry adds so much character to an outfit.

Hey guess what? There's that simple pop of color again! Yet another way to use this easy technique. Adding a nice colored blazer or vest to a simple dainty dress or top can give it a fun but classy look. Make sure that the blazer or vest lays in a complimenting way with what ever is underneath or it can look sloppy or bulky, eek!

This look really reminds me of home, growing up in laid back cities by the beach (Orange County is really not at all what TV makes it out to be). What's better than being able to run around in a big, light weight, comfy sweater & some short shorts? When I go out it's great when I can find an outfit that's not only cute, but that's comfortable to wear around all day. Also don't miss the plain leather belt. Belts are a nice way to define separate pieces of an outfit in a small & simple way. This pair of sunglasses is another shape that's been "eye catching" recently, if you get my drift, haha.

The all new, oh so lovely, Lux 'Central' Coffeebar

My wonderful friend Bailey & I went out for a girls night out in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. My favorite little cozy coffee spot, Lux Coffeebar, was the choice place of the night. When we arrived I was in for quite the surprise. Lux had not only moved it's location next door, but was impeccably decorated with vintage artwork & furniture. The atmosphere of the shop was absolutely perfect. I never would have thought that Lux could have got any better than it already was. Jeff Fischer, owner of Lux, really brought his new vision of the coffeebar to life.

A new & inspired Fischer, has embarked on a new concept for his popular neighborhood coffee house. With a desire for more space & some new ideas, Fischer bought the former clothing store just south of the original location late last year & went to work on a new vision.
A vision that, he says, "combines the comforts of home with a few things people might have never seen." Fischer says the new space has an atmosphere of home & community."The steel box windows have sills, so there's a feeling of looking out into the backyard while mom makes dinner."
Along with intimate lighting, exposed brick, & rich woods, there's also a vintage Olivetti typewriter (Fischer collects them) to add a bit of nostalgia. "It's like a grown up version of Lux," He says. "I don't know if I set out to do anything else but make people feel at home."
The new Lux Coffee Bar, now called Lux Central, will continue its DJ'd music & promotion of local artists (Mexican/Kickapoo painter and sculptor Hector Ruiz is helping to curate the new space) in addition to serving up caffeinated concoctions courtesy of new equipment including a La Marzocco handmade espresso machine. The hours will be expanded to 6 a.m. to midnight every day with a possibility of staying open until 2 a.m. on Fridays & Saturdays. They will also be bringing in a solid wine list, a unique beer selection, & hand-crafted cocktails.
Lux Central will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, & when it comes to food, the menu will be  small and fluid, with comfort dishes like meatloaf, potatoes au gratin, tapioca pudding, cheeseburgers, & Spanish-style tapas.

& although Lux Central isn't much of a name change, we should be grateful Fischer decided against using his first idea. "I wanted to call the place, 'Bread Meat Wine Water Spirits Always Meet Here Home,' but I didn't know how I would fit the name on the door."

Although the old Lux (seen in above & below photos) will be missed, I was extremely impressed & inspired by the new coffeebar. For a great shot of espresso, an absolutely brilliant music selection, comforting vintage atmosphere, & all around lovely service I would highly recommend visiting Lux Central Coffeebar. It is a perfect place to relax with friends & have a great time.

Art Journal DIY Craft

Now that I'm moving back to my home town in beautiful California, I've had quite a bit of new inspiration. I'm looking forward to spending more time painting, sewing & making DIY crafts. This tutorial is a cute new art journal to get you though the warm summer months. If it's too hot out side, get crafty inside! Make some iced coffee & and start journaling... enjoy!

Supplies: You'll need a pretty new journal, some magazines or old books to cut (I used a vintage Better Homes and Gardens), photos, scissors & adhesive.

I used a recycled art journal from a local thrift store. I love the vintage book covers you can find buried away in thrift stores. It's like hunting for treasure!

The inside pages are my favorite for art journaling because they are a collection of pretty vintage papers... all recycled.♥

I've been filling pages with magazine cut outs, instax photos, polaroids, & hand written journal entries & drawings!

I'll be carrying this journal in my bag all summer & fall to document small inspirations & keep photos of happy moments. xo. Ariel Shay
